FA await report over Cole

The Football Association are awaiting the referee's report before deciding whether to take action against Ashley Cole for an alleged two-finger salute to Arsenal fans.

Photographs show Chelsea defender Cole making the gesture during Sunday's 1-0 Barclays Premier League defeat at Emirates Stadium, with reports claiming it was directed at Gunners' supporters who had jeered him throughout the match.

"We are waiting for the referee's report to come in," an FA spokesman said, adding Alan Wiley was expected to file it within the next 24 hours.

Cole made an acrimonious departure from Arsenal in August last year.
