Fabio is fined

Real Madrid have punished coach Fabio Capello for his one-finger gesture to two of the club's supporters during Sunday's league clash with Real Zaragoza.

Capello immediately apologised for the incident, which was captured on camera at the Bernabeu, but Real have still decided to take action against the Italian. The club released a statement saying: "Following a proposal from the sporting directorship, Real Madrid's board of directors have decided to penalise and fine Fabio Capello.

"The sporting directorship has taken into account not only the public apologies given by the coach during the press conference held after the game, but also the attitude displayed in front of the sporting director of Real Madrid (Predrag Mijatovic), recognising and regretting such an untimely mistake."
