Flintoff return still on hold

England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff will have to wait a while longer for his eagerly-awaited comeback after he was left out of Lancashire's 2nd XI's match against Yorkshire on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old was due to play in a one-day match against the White Rose's second string on Monday but was held back on the advice of the county's medical team, who felt a limited-overs clash could be too "vigorous" for him to test the knee which has had two operations in the last year.

Club staff left open the possibility of him playing in the three-day game starting in Crosby, Liverpool but after further consideration it has been decided to delay his comeback.

Flintoff has not played since major knee surgery last August, undergoing a further operation in January.
