Florent Malouda in plea to stay the course

Simon Johnson13 April 2012

Florent Malouda has told temporary Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink he is desperate to see out his contract at the club.

Chelsea are understood to be looking at a summer sale of the French international, who has two years left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge.

Malouda has failed to impress since he joined from Lyon for £13.5m in 2007 and is expected to be one of the casualties as Chelsea look to restructure the squad in the off-season.

But Malouda, who is wanted by Juventus and Inter Milan, said: "My intention is to stay. I play for a team that helps me get closer to my targets. Last year, we almost won the Champions League.

"I am now aiming to go even further. Until the end of my contract."
