As the curtain rises on the new Premier League season this weekend, and we've caught up with the fans to hear their thoughts, ambitions and fears ahead of the new campaign.

The reigning champions take on Newcastle United with more silverware locked within their cross-hairs.

Last weekend's defeat to Arsenal was not so much a shock, but the magnitude of the 3-0 defeat will have been tough to take for a side with Champions League aspirations.

Their transfer business has been conservative, by their standards, but what Manchester City have done is secure the services of star players such as Vicent Kompany, David Silva, and Sergio Aguero. Good work, whichever way you view it!

But how are the fans feeling?

Well, to take us through the goings on inside the Etihad, we spoke to Manchester City fan Ric Turner from BlueMoon to get his take ahead of the new season.

MANCHESTER CITY'S TRANSFER WINDOW

Best Signing:MangalaShould Have Signed:Isco

How successful has Manchester City's transfer window been?

I think Txiki Begiristain has been fairly astute, given the “fair” play restrictions we faced. Obviously the Mangala fee was high, but our net spend is relatively modest.

We have moved out some of the deadwood and replaced them with better players, whilst reducing the wage bill.

Is the squad looking better than last season's?

Yes. Caballero, Sagna, Mangala, Fernando and Lampard have added greater depth to the squad, whilst key players such as Kompany, Silva and Nasri have committed their long term futures to the club.

What will qualify as a good season for Manchester City?

With squad we have at our disposal, anything less than silverware would represent failure this season.

The club will hope to progress further in the Champions League and put up a strong defence of our league title.
