Arsenal deadline day rumours: Douglas Luiz battle; £86m Danilo update; Mudryk latest

Marc Mayo1 September 2022

Transfer deadline day is upon us and Arsenal’s business is not done yet.

A win over Aston Villa on Wednesday night likely only focused Mikel Arteta’s intentions to bolster his squad as injuries led to a changed line-up for the Gunners.

Douglas Luiz scored straight from a corner at the Emirates Stadium and is being touted as a possible alternative to Youri Tielemans before the 11pm deadline.

Mykhaylo Mudryk is another name making headlines as an Arsenal target while the big price tag for Danilo has been revealed.

Here is your latest Arsenal deadline day rumour update as the clock ticks down...

Douglas Luiz

Arsenal got a good look at Luiz last night and are one of many teams considering testing Aston Villa’s resolve on the Brazil midfielder - with the Gunners mulling over alternatives to long-term target Tielemans.

The Mail claim Atletico Madrid are pondering a £20million bid with Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle also monitoring his situation.

Luiz is out of contract at the end of the season and, while Villa want to tie him down to a new deal, they may consider cashing in on deadline day with the player keen to weigh up his options.

Palmeiras have slapped an £86m price tag on young midfielder Danilo after Arsenal’s interest in the player emerged.

AC Milan and clubs around Europe are also keen but the Brazilian club are intent on sticking to his release clause this summer.

A new midfielder is thought to be a top priority for Arteta after injuries to Oleksandr Zinchenko, Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny.

Mykhaylo Mudryk

Arsenal have not progressed their interest in Mudryk since contacting his agents over a week ago.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports on Everton’s rejected bid for the Shakhtar Donetsk winger so far being the only official approach for his signature.

Therefore the Gunners remain firmly in the background for Mudryk as the deadline approaches.
