Chelsea fans showed Petr Cech respect as the name of their former goalkeeper was read out just prior to kick-off in the Community Shield.

The reaction of Blues fans to the Czech stopper, who left Stamford Bridge after 11 trophy-laden years to join their north London rivals, had been highly anticipated.

In contrast, the name of former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas was greeted with hearty boos from supporters of the Gunners.

The teams changed ends just prior to kick-off, which saw Cech have to run the length of the pitch to take his position between the sticks in front of 30,000 odd Chelsea supporters.

The 33-year-old need not have been concerned about the response he'd recieve, with a warm round of applause there to greet him.
