West Ham co-chairman David Gold has revealed the club are closing in on a one-year loan signing, thought to be Carl Jenkinson.

The 22-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Emirates Stadium, after Arsenal signed Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers in the wake of Bacary Sagna's departure.

And Gold has revealed on social media the club are now 'closing in' on their sixth signing of the summer.

"Closing in on a new one year loan signing," the 77-year-old posted on Twitter.

And it is widely believed Gold will imminently unveil Jenkinson after Hammers boss Sam Allardyce confirmed on Wednesday the club were making moves to sign the England Under-21 defender on a temporary deal.

“We’re interested in signing Carl Jenkinson on loan from Arsenal,” Allardyce told talkSPORT.

“I’m hoping it’s going to be completed in the next twenty four hours. We’re hoping it’s all going to be OK.”
