Arsenal risk losing out on Lisandro Martinez after Manchester United move ahead in the race for the Ajax defender.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are increasingly confident of beating the Gunners to his signature - Martinez having made clear his desire to move to the Premier League.

Recent reports suggested Ajax want £52m for Martinez but it is now claimed they are willing to negotiate with fresh talks to begin soon.

William Saliba

After returning to London Colney for Arsenal training on Monday, Saliba is set for a run in Mikel Arteta’s first-team following comments by Arsenal academt chief Per Mertesacker.

He told HaytersTV: “What William has done in Marseille is magnificent. So for us to really test him this summer and see what’s best for him.

“But he has clearly made his mark with his young age with his playing in a major league in Europe and been one of the best players in Europe. So why not use him?”
