Arsene Wenger has succeeded in building a philosophy like Barcelona's with Arsenal - and Paris Saint-Germain want to create the same identity, according to Thiago Motta.

Arsenal host PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday night with top spot in Group A up for grabs, with Wenger's Gunners also going strong in the Premier League trailing leaders Chelsea by three points.

Wenger celebrated his 20th anniversary at the club earlier this year, with his side's possession-based style drawing comparisons with Spanish giants Barcelona - not least due to the French coach signing La Masia graduates Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin in the past decade.

PSG midfielder Motta - who spent eight years at the Camp Nou - sees similarities between Arsenal's style and Barca's unique brand of football, telling Arsenal's official website: "Creating such a style, an identity, takes a lot of time.

"Barcelona and Arsenal have been working for the past 20 years in order to build a philosophy.

"We hope to create our own here in Paris, even if we know that it's only possible through work and time.

"[Wednesday's match] is one of those games that you love to play as a professional footballer. You practise every day and work hard in order to play these clashes.

"The whole group is very enthusiastic, we will play a strong side in a beautiful stadium.

"We'll try to play our football, stick to our style of play. We know that we need to improve, we work for that every day.

"More importantly, we want to leave the Emirates with the feeling of having produced some great football and we hope for a win. It'll be an interesting game to watch as first spot is at stake, which matters a lot."
