Hector Bellerin and Mesut Ozil are among a clutch of Arsenal players being assessed ahead of their New Year’s Day clash against Fulham.

Bellerin has missed the Gunners’ last four matches due to a calf strain suffered in the 3-2 defeat to Southampton in December.

His absence has forced Unai Emery into a defensive reshuffle with Stephan Lichtsteiner filling in at right-back in recent matches but the Spaniard is being assessed ahead of the visit of the Cottagers having returned to training, the club have confirmed.

Also among those being checked over by the club are Nacho Monreal and Shkodran Mustafi (both hamstring).

A decision will also be made on Ozil later this week after the German missed Saturday’s thrashing by Liverpool due to a knee complaint.

18-year-old Emile Smith Rowe meanwhile is expected to return to full training in two weeks while Henrikh Mkhuatryan is sidelined until February due to a fractured metatarsal.
