Arsene Wenger hands journalists special gift to commemorate his 20th anniversary at Arsenal

Arsene Wenger was presented with a crystal vase to celebrate his 20th anniversary at Arsenal but it seems he was in a gift-giving mood as well too.

The Arsenal manager handed a pen to assembled journalists at his press conference on Friday morning, a day ahead of the 20th anniversary of his first day as Arsenal manager.

Wenger joked the pens were “only to write nice things about the club”.

Though Wenger was keen to share a special something with the press he was loath to become too nostalgic with a trip to Burnley on the horizon.

“I think it is a privilege for me, I do not look back,” he said. “Maybe what people will keep is the ‘Invincibles’ year, but for me the job of a manager is to do the maximum with what you have available and that is what I try to do.

“After it is like a marathon, you do one step after another and when you look back you have done the distance. We are obsessed always by the next game, the next game and that is what we expect always: the perfect game in the next one. That is what we work for.”
