Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has lifted the lid on life away from the Emirates, including his love of Bob Marley and passion for comedy.

Speaking to the French publication, Le Parisien, the Arsenal boss conceded that the ‘stresses’ of the day job means he rarely gets the opportunity to display his humorous side – something which he is particularly cautious of when addressing the press.

“It is true, it is an aspect of my personality that people do not know about,” he said.

“With my job, I am often stressed, so I might appear a bit like a constipated person. But I like to laugh when I am with my friends and to let my humorous side reign free, something that I obviously cannot do in front of the media.

“You know that you can quickly cause irreparable damage when you have my job. I am more interested in controlling that.”

And you can understand why, after another probing press conference for the Gunners boss.

After reflecting on another week dominated by Arsenal’s injury problems, Wenger was then quizzed on the latest developments around the Fifa corruption scandal. Heavy going indeed, but how does the Gunners boss like to unwind, you ask?

By listening to some Bob Marley, perhaps.

“Yes, I love his music and the man that he was,” said Wenger.

“He was not ‘fabricated’. He was real. I love people who do not have conventional paths and who stand out because of their talent.
