Arsene Wenger is remaining cautious about Arsenal's title chances next season after saying that winning the club's first Premier League since 2004 will prove difficult.

The Gunners enjoyed a positive campaign last term after the club retained their FA Cup title with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Aston Villa in May, and also secured automatic Champions League qualification.

Since the 2014-15 season ended, Arsenal have strengthened with the signing of goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea in an £11million deal.

But, with the north Londoners' rivals having also used the transfer market to bolster their squads ahead of the new season, Wenger has admitted wrestling the title from Jose Mourinho's side will not be easy.

When asked about Arsenal's chances of winning the Premier League next season, the Frenchman said: "Let’s be cautious on that front.

"We finished third, won the Cup, we have a good base. Our target is to do better but we know it will be difficult.

"We just want to focus on our quality. We’ll focus on our own performance and not the others."

Arsenal kick-started their charge for the title in fine form after they thrashed French giants Lyon 6-0 in the Emirates Cup on Saturday.
