'Ashley Cole to quit Chelsea at end of season'

15 October 2012

Ashley Cole is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season after failing to agree terms on a new contract, according to reports.

The England left-back will not sign the one-year extension on offer at Stamford Bridge and will speak to a host of foreign clubs, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, in January, the Daily Mail reports.

Cole’s availability next summer has also alerted Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Cole, 31, is the latest victim of Chelsea’s new policy for players over the age of 30. Didier Drogba was only offered a one-year deal before he left the club last summer and Frank Lampard could also be heading for the exit door.
