Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng is set for a unique linkup with the likes of Kanye West, Santigold, Rihanna and hip-hop icon Jay-Z.
Unfortunately we aren’t going to be seeing the critically-acclaimed album or mixtape from a footballer that the world is waiting for. However Boateng will be sharing a management company with these megastars having become the first footballer to sign up to Roc Nation Sports.
The management agency is an off-shoot of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation company, which provides management services to US musicians, songwriters and DJs.
Roc Nation Sports roster is currently dominated by US stars, including NBA regular season MVP Kevin Durant, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith and boxer Miguel Cotto. The 26-year-old former Manchester City player has become the first soccer star in the firm and inked the deal at Jay-Z’s Los Angeles villa.
Boateng told Welt am Sontag: “It was a great day with Jay Z. We could ask him anything. We talked mostly about music and football. Jay Z knows about football and has watched numerous games.
“America is a big market. With Jay-Z and Roc Nation I have a lot, we want to try what is possible.”
