Brighton have announced the signing of Leyton Orient youngster Steven Alzate on a three-year contract.

As exclusively revealed by Standard Sport earlier in July, the 18-year-old was being tracked by the Premier League newcomers with a view to joining the Under-23 outfit.

Alzate made his senior O's debut in February and scored in his first start just four days later, opening the scoring in a 4-0 thrashing of Newport County in March.

The youngster signed professional terms for the London outfit last September but has chosen to continue his development elsewhere.

"We are delighted to welcome Steven into the squad," Brighton's U23s coach told the club's official website.

"He is someone who did well to break into the Leyton Orient first team from their academy last season, and adds a new dimension to our attacking options."

Meanwhile, Alzate's team-mate Tristan Abraham has joined Norwich City but will remain with the O's on loan for the 2017/18 season.
