Guus Hiddink has urged Chelsea not to let their season "fade away" during the Premier League run-in.

The Blues recorded a convincing 4-1 victory against Bournemouth this afternoon, which moved the defending champions up to ninth place in the table.

But Chelsea remain nine points adrift of the top six and have little left to play for in their four remaining fixtures, with even a Europa League place seemingly beyond them.

However, Hiddink is adamant his players are still motivated and was pleased with the performance they produced on the South Coast, which saw Eden Hazard score his first goal of the season.

"Of course we desperately wanted to win this game [against Bournemouth]," Hiddink insisted.

"We've got nothing at stake really and we talked about that in the week. But we don't want the season to fade away. The players responded very well.

"We are very pleased with the performance, especially the second half. I think it was a very open game," he added.

Chelsea host title-chasing Tottenham next week and the club's away support made it abundantly clear this afternoon that they are eager to put a dent in the north Londoners' title hopes.

Hiddink confirmed his team will set out to beat Mauricio Pochettino's side, who are currently five points behind leaders Leicester and vying to succeed Chelsea as champions.

"We play the next game to win. And the next game is Tottenham.

"At the end the strongest team will win the league. And the strongest team is the one that deserves the league as well," he added.
