Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo has confirmed the Italian giant's interest in Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

The January transfer window opened on Monday and, having been left on the bench for the 3-1 defeat by Manchester City over the weekend, Giroud has a decision to make.

After sitting out the early part of the season, Giroud has now featured in nine of Chelsea's 17 Premier League games so far and is regarded as an important member of the squad by manager Frank Lampard.

However, France boss Didier Dechamps has repeatedly told Giroud he must be playing regularly with the European Championships fast approaching in the summer and has told the former Arsenal striker to move clubs if he cannot get the time he needs.

Asked if Juventus would be interested in a deal for Giroud, Pirlo said: "He’d be handy!

"We already discussed with the club what we want to do and if there are any opportunities. We hope to do something over the next few days.”
