Chelsea missed the chance to go top of the Premier League on Tuesday as they suffered a second successive defeat against Wolves.

Here’s how Standard Sport’s James Robson rated the players on show at Molineux

Edouard Mendy 6

Denied Neto to banish thoughts of his blunder against Everton, but won’t happy about being beaten at his near post by Podence.

Reece James 5

Quality early cross to Pulisic, but was largely restricted in his attacking ambitions. Thought he’d conceded a penalty with a desperate challenge on Neto.

Kurt Zouma 6

So close to yet another set-piece goal. His wonderful header came crashing off the bar. Should have done more to stop Neto’s late winner.

Thiago Silva 7

Distribution was generally impressive – other than one heart-stopping moment in the first half that required James to spare his blushes.

Ben Chilwell 8

This was what Chelsea needed from him against Everton. Wicked corner found the head of Giroud, who couldn’t convert – and then provided the cross for the Frenchman to open the scoring.

N’Golo Kante 7

Commanding display in midfield to help Chelsea  control the rhythm for long periods. In the second half it became more of case of trying to disrupt an ever dominant Wolves.

Mason Mount 7

Energetic and intelligent – he combined well with Chilwell. His corner led to Zouma heading against the bar.

Kai Havertz 5

Back in midfield, but another game in which he failed to influence in any kind of significant way.

Christian Pulisic 6

Moments of ingenuity illuminated Chelsea’s attack in the first half. Faded a bit after the break.

Olivier Giroud 6

Waisted two glorious chances to open the scoring before volleying Chelsea ahead with an instinctive finish.

Timo Werner 4

It’s not happening for him at the moment. He’s being moved around a lot, which won’t help – but needs to find his rhythm again.

Mateo Kovacic (Havertz, 71’) 5

Injected energy into Chelsea’s midfield when Wolves were having the better of it.

Tammy Abraham (Giroud, 71’) 4

Barely had a sight of goal.
