Chelsea scouts watched two of their targets, Stefan de Vrij and Felipe Anderson, during Lazio’s victory over Atalanta on Sunday.

Antonio Conte failed with a £21million bid for the centre‑half in the closing days of the summer transfer window.

The Chelsea manager still wants to strengthen his defence and De Vrij is likely to leave Lazio in the summer, having refused a number of times to extend his contract that runs out in June 2018. Lazio president Claudio Lotito will demand around £35million for the 24‑year-old Holland international, who is also attracting interest from Manchester United.

Conte is also looking at attacking midfielder Anderson, who has been at Lazio since 2013.

The 23-year-old is under contract until the summer of 2020 and would cost a similar amount to De Vrij. Paris St Germain are also interested in Anderson.
