Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has completed a season-long loan move to German side Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Blues released a statement on their official website in which they confirmed the 19-year-old will spend the 2015-16 campaign with the Bundesliga side, where he could feature for the club in the Champions League.

Christensen moves to Germany after being elevated into Chelsea's first-team by Jose Mourinho last term.

The Denmark international made his debut for the Blues against Shrewsbury Town in the Capital One Cup last October before featuring in the club's FA Cup match with Bradford in January.

He later went on to make an appearance in the Premier League after being subbed on against Sunderland in May.

Following the end of the 2014-15 season, Christensen was given his international debut for Denmark last month.

He later featured in the nation's squad for the European Under-21 Championships in the Czech Republic in June, where Denmark reached the semi-finals before being eliminated by eventual winners Sweden.

Christensen has won the Under-21s Premier League, UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup since arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2012.
