Tottenham have confirmed Michel Vorm will not be fit to play in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.

The Dutchman had been hoping to shake off a knee problem sustained in his side's thrilling 3-1 victory over Swansea earlier this month.

But the 33-year-old, who has made a total of 11 senior appearances this season, has lost his battle to be fit for the clash against Antonio Conte's side.

A Spurs statement said the goalkeeper is: "advancing with rehabilitation and hoping to return to training in May."

Vorm has deputised for Hugo Lloris throughout Spurs' FA Cup campaign but the Frenchman is now expected to return to the starting line-up as Mauricio Pochettino's men attempt to progress to the final.

Vorm's misfortune could also pave the way for Pau Lopez, who is yet to make a senior appearance for Spurs, to be on the bench at Wembley.

Danny Rose will also be unable to feature against the Blues, despite commencing outdoor training this week, but may be in line to return ahead of the north London derby.

The Belgian rolled his ankle earlier this week and Conte could turn to Asmir Begovic if Courtois fails to recover.
