Chris Samba infuriates Guus Hiddink as he prepares to seal £10m QPR move

Christopher Samba has arrived in England to complete a £10million switch from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala to Queens Park Rangers.

The 28-year-old defender left the Russian’s training camp in Spain to have talks over a move to Loftus Road.

Samba (above) is manager Harry Redknapp’s No1 target to strengthen the backline before the transfer window shuts tomorrow.

Redknapp’s decision to allow Anton Ferdinand to join Bursaspor on loan yesterday was due to his confidence that a deal will be agreed.

Rangers have already met the £10m release clause but manager Guus Hiddink is unhappy with Samba.

The Russian League is on a winter break but Samba was in Spain preparing for the second half of the season which starts next month.

Hiddink said: “He left for England yesterday. It’s a shame to talk about this but he didn’t even say goodbye. Whatever happens to you, you should take into account the people with whom you work. He started the training camps with us but then he started to make contact with England.”

Samba joined Anzhi from Blackburn 12 months ago but is keen to return to England because his family stayed behind in this country when he moved to Russia.

He still has three years left on his contract at Anzhi, where he is paid around £100,000 a week, but that has not scared off QPR. They hope that a salary worth around £80,000 a week, plus the promise of a release clause should they get relegated, will convince him to sign.

Rangers today completed the signing of South Korea defender Yun Suk-Young on a three-and-a-half year deal while Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue was reported to be in London to discuss a transfer to the club.

However, another target, Porto defender Rolando, is set join Napoli on loan ahead of a £6.5m summer move.
