Crystal Palace are closing in on a loan deal for Everton’s Turkish striker Cenk Tosun as the club look to improve their firepower.

Only second-from-bottom Watford have scored fewer than Palace’s 19 goals in the Premier League this season, with Jordan Ayew their top scorer with five.

Besiktas are reportedly interested in striking a deal to re-sign Tosun from Everton, but the player is keen to stay in the Premier League and looks set for a loan move to Selhurst Park.

A deal for Tosun, 28, could see Connor Wickham leave the Eagles this month.

Palace are happy to let the 26-year-old head out on loan in search of more regular football after years of injury problems.

Championship club Sheffield Wednesday are thought to be keen signing the forward, who scored his first goal in more than three years against Norwich this month.

Wickham was sent out on two loan spells to Wednesday during his time at Sunderland, scoring nine goals in 17 appearances.
