Neil Warnock is considering a January move for Scotland captain Scott Brown.

Crystal Palace boss Warnock has sent scouts to watch the Celtic midfielder and, according to reports in Scotland, he is ready to make a £5million move. Celtic are reluctant to sell Brown but his contract expires at the end of the season.

Warnock is eyeing several January signings to boost Palace’s Premier League survival chances.

Meanwhile, Palace defender Paddy McCarthy will return to Sheffield United on loan until January.

McCarthy’s one-month deal at Bramall Lane has expired but the 31-year-old centre-back, who has struggled with injury in recent seasons, is set to stay.

“I played five game consecutively for them with no problems,” said McCarthy. “I am looking forward to getting back up there for another deal up until January.”
