Alan Pardew has confirmed Loic Remy will be out for two months with the thigh injury he suffered in training this week.

The 29-year-old, who only joined on a season-long loan from Chelsea last week, has returned to Stamford Bridge for treatment as he starts his recovery.

“It is a tear in his thigh,” said Pardew. “It is an area where recovery is difficult. It was an innocuous moment in training.”

Palace will continue to monitor the progress of the Frenchman and are hopeful he will return to the club in eight weeks.

Meanwhile, both James McArthur and Yohan Cabaye face late fitness tests ahead of Saturday's trip to Middlesbrough.

Both withdrew from international duty, but could feature at the Riverside Stadium.

Pardew added: "We're touch and go on a few players [injury-wise]. We'll see [about McArthur and Cabaye]."
