Victor Camarasa set to make Crystal Palace debut in EFL Cup second round against Colchester United

Victor Camarasa is set to be handed his Crystal Palace debut as the Eagles face Colchester United in the League Cup tonight.

The midfielder, who spent last season with Cardiff and has moved to south London on loan this term, has been absent from the last two matchday squads despite being fit to play.

With a number of players coming back from injury Hodgson will rotate his still limited squad, while there could be a full debut for James McCarthy having only appeared from the bench so far this season.

Gary Cahill, who lifted the EFL Cup with Chelsea in 2015, made his debut in Saturday's historic first ever Premier League win over Manchester United, and believes Palace are ready for a Cup run. However, Cahill has warned his new teammates not to waste their stunning performance by flopping against League Two opposition tonight.

“There is no point in having the result, performance and motivation at Old Trafford to go and underestimate our opponents tonight, we need to show maximum respect to them and get a job done professionally," Cahill told Standard Sport.

“I see an opportunity to go on a cup run and get as far as we can, if you can manage to get to a quarter, semi or final it is wide open and ready to go. We take it one step at a time, tonight we have a tough game but one we feel we should win if we go about it in the right way.”
