West Brom midfielder Darren Fletcher, who won the Premier League four times with Manchester United, insists that finishing inside the top four is 'not good enough' for his former club.

Speaking to Sky Sports after his side's 1-0 victory over United at Old Trafford, the 31 year old Scotsman said: "I'm sure everyone at the club will be striving to win the league next season, finishing fourth is not good enough for Manchester United."

Fletcher admitted, however, that it was always going to be hard for Louis van Gaal to coach a side that could contend with League leaders Chelsea: "The goal all along for them was to finish top four and Chelsea were always going to be tough to catch.

"Manchester United have a new manager and it's a transitional period for them."
