Eden Hazard sends message to Real Madrid fans after lifting Champions League trophy

Eden Hazard is adamant he will come good in a Real Madrid shirt after another season in which he struggled to make an impact in Spain.

The Belgian lifted the Champions League on Saturday night after the LaLiga champions beat Liverpool 1-0 in Paris to secure the club’s fifth European title in the last nine seasons.

However, Hazard played just 83 minutes in the Champions League run and started only seven matches in the league this season. While injuries have been a problem again, Carlo Ancelotti has also been reluctant to give Hazard a sustained run in the side even when fit as Vinicius Junior has enjoyed an impressive campaign.

Speaking at Real’s trophy parade as they celebrated the European win back in Madrid, Hazard told the fans that he is confident his best form will come next season.

“These have been three difficult years but next year I will give everything for you guys,” Hazard said.

“I’m sure that next year will be mine, I’ve no doubts.”

Chelsea would have been very happy to see Real lift the trophy in Paris, and not just because it keeps them as the most recent English winners of the competition.

Hazard left Stamford Bridge in 2019 to join Real for an initial £88.5m fee, but the deal included a number of performance-related bonuses.

One of those was winning the Champions League and as a result of the Spanish side getting the job done in France, Chelsea will receive an extra £15m.
