England put their goalscoring woes behind them in a thrilling finale as they drew 3-3 with Germany at Wembley.

The Three Lions went into their final match before the World Cup without a win in five games and looking for their first goal from open play in almost 500 minutes.

After a goalless first-half, Germany were two goals up midway through the second period, Ilkay Gundogan dispatching a penalty and Kai Havertz then curling a stunning effort into the top corner.

The pressure was mounting on England and Gareth Southgate but they responded in remarkable fashion, with three goals in little more than ten minutes to turn the match on its head.

Luke Shaw’s strike just about crossed the line as England finally found the back of the net, before Mason Mount made it a quickfire double after brilliant work from Bukayo Saka.

Jude Bellingham was one of those responsible for dragging the hosts up the pitch and he won a penalty, eventually given after a VAR review. Harry Kane stepped up and hammered into the top corner for his 51st international goal, three behind Wayne Rooney’s England record.

With Wembley in party mode, the mood was dampened as Nick Pope spilled the ball into the path of Havertz and the Chelsea man had a simple finish for his second, as it finished level in chaotic fashion.

While it meant England went six matches without a win for the first time ever, Southgate will be relieved his side went at least some way to lifting the mood ahead of the focus shifting to Qatar.
