Eric Dier has revealed that he is aiming to score more goals for Tottenham this season, regardless of which position he plays in for Mauricio Pochettino's side.
The 21-year-old is primarily a centre back but has been deployed in several roles since he joined Spurs from Sporting Lisbon last summer, the latest of which is central midfield.
Dier opened the scoring for Tottenham during Saturday's clash with Stoke City, which ultimately ended in disappointment for the hosts after they let their lead slip late on to draw 2-2 with Mark Hughes' side, and he is keen to find the net more often whether he continues in his new role or not.
“Last season I was disappointed because I scored the two early goals and didn’t score again. I had chances as well. There was one against City at home and I had one cleared off the line against Arsenal.
“This season, I want to score more goals. I know if I keep playing in midfield and keep doing well I’ll hopefully have more chances," he told the club's official website.
Dier also believes that he can still provide a goal threat even if he is used in a defensive role: "I think I can do better from set-pieces and get in better positions. Last season I could have scored a few more goals so this season, hopefully I’ll get past two!”

Tottenham have sold midfielders Paulinho, Benjamin Stambouli and Etienne Capoue this summer, which has given Dier an opportunity to attempt to break up the established partnership of Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason, who scored just one goal between them last season.
