Football League looks for new sponsor

The Football League are looking for a new title sponsor after announcing their deal with Coca-Cola will end after this season.

The soft-drinks company has been the main sponsor of the competition since 2004 and it is understood it offered £6million a year to extend the deal.

However, the Football League believe they can get more and said today they are "presently in discussions with a number of companies".

A spokesman for Coca-Cola refused to rule out the possibility of the company becoming an official partner of the FA, who are looking for find a new title sponsor for the FA Cup.

E.ON's four-year deal for the Cup was understood to be worth £32m, which English football's governing body will be keen to recoup.
