Former Arsenal striker Benik Afobe became the outright leading scorer in English football on Saturday during Wolves' defeat to Birmingham.

The 22-year-old took his tally for the season to 30 in the 2-1 defeat at St. Andrews, moving one goal clear of Tottenham star Harry Kane.

Afobe scored 19 goals while on loan at MK Dons in the first half of the season - notably scoring twice as the Dons knocked Manchester United out of the League Cup in August.

His form at Stadium:mk sparked interest in his services, and the striker eventually swapped Arsenal for Wolves on a permanent basis in the January transfer window.

Afobe signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Molineux, moving for an undisclosed fee, and has since gone on to score 11 goals for the Championship promotion-chasers.

The goal against Birmingham took Afobe one clear of Kane, who has 29 goals in all competitions after breaking into the Spurs first team in November.
