Gianfranco Zola: We must stop throwing games away

Jeremy Cross11 April 2012

Gianfranco Zola admits West Ham need to stop blowing games from a winning position if they are to avoid relegation this season.

The Hammers were in total control after surging into a two-goal lead inside the first 11 minutes at Hull City but still ended up drawing 3-3.

"It is not the first time we have handled the game badly when we have been in control of it," said Zola.

The impressive Guillermo Franco put the visitors ahead with a neat header inside five minutes and Zola has been delighted with the striker.

He added: "Franco was outstanding. He is an excellent guy and works very hard. Above all he is a very intelligent player and does what is the right thing for the team - I am really impressed with him."
