German club Mainz are ready to sell Gonzalo Jara after the Chilean poked Edinson Cavani’s bottom and then theatrically fell to fall during his nation’s 1-0 victory over Uruguay in the Copa America quarter-final.

The incident, which has spread like wildfire across social media, saw Jara audaciously poke Cavani and then play act when the Uruguayan retaliated to get him sent off and swing the balance of the tie in Chile’s favour.

The former West Brom defender has grabbed the headlines for his outrageous actions and may even have to look for another club despite being contracted with Mainz until the end of next season.

Mainz sports director Christian Heidel told Bild “He knows that if an offer comes he can go,

“We do not tolerate that. More than the prod, however, it is what comes afterwards that makes me angry. I hate theatrics more than anything.”

Chile’s victory over their South American rivals ensures that they have reached the last 16 of the Copa America for the first time in 16 years.
