Gylfi Sigurdsson vow: Tottenham are still on course for the top four

Gylfi Sigurdsson insists Tottenham will hold their nerve in the fight to qualify for the Champions League, despite losing for the third time in eight days.

Spurs slipped to fourth in the table after the 1-0 home defeat by Fulham and are now only four points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal, having played a game more.

The defeat follows the 3-2 loss at Liverpool, which ended a 12-match unbeaten run in the League, and the 4-1 thumping at Inter Milan.

Sigurdsson said: “Even though we’ve had a couple of bad results, we won’t start doubting ourselves. We’ve got the determination to get into the Champions League.”

Tottenham’s next game is against Swansea in a fortnight and Sigurdsson believes the international break will allow his team-mates to regroup.

“We would have liked another game in the next few days to make things right,” said the Iceland international. “But maybe it’s good that we can go away and reflect on what we’ve been doing.”

Sigurdsson was left ruing the poor performance that allowed Fulham their first win at White Hart Lane for 10 years. “We just never got going,” he added.
