Harry Kane: I want to finish my career at Tottenham, the club is in great shape and we're going forward

Harry Kane says he wants to spend the remainder of his career at Tottenham.

The 23-year-old from Chingford has emerged as one of the Premier League’s top strikers since breaking into the Tottenham side in late 2014 and was the competition’s top scorer last season with 25 goals.

England’s number one striker for much of Euro 2016 has, perhaps unsurprisingly, drawn covetous glances from Manchester United whilst European powers Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have monitored his situation over recent months.

Kane, though, has remained loyal and is expected to follow Mauricio Pochettino in signing a new deal. His manager has warned the Spurs squad that he is more focused on making additions than improving the conditions of the current squad, but his star striker is already happy with the status quo.

“I'd love to stay here,” Kane told Sky Sports. “The club is in great shape at the moment, and we're going forward as a club, and that's important.

“As long as there's a vision with the club, and we're not stale, we're going forward as a club. At the moment, we're an excited group of young players with a great manager, great training ground and a new stadium coming too.

“I'd love to stay here for the rest of my career. We'll just have to see what happens.”

In contrast to many of those who finished below them last season, this summer has been a quiet one for Tottenham. Though they still remain in the market Spurs completed the recruitment of Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen early in the window and have lost none of their key players.

Whilst the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have been looking to spend heavily Spurs have made much less noise during the off-season. That is how Kane likes it.

“Teams buy players and change managers if they feel they need change at the club. The gaffer doesn't feel like we needed that. He was happy with his squad.

“He added a couple of great signings, and we're happy. We've been getting better every year, but for us it's just about staying focused.

“There's a lot of talk about the Uniteds, the Citys, the Chelseas, the new managers, new players, and we're happy for people to talk about them, we'll just do what we do each week.”

Kane is yet to get off the mark this season but will hope to make a big impact on Saturday, when Spurs host Liverpool at White Hart Lane in a battle between two sides whose hopes extend to at least a Champions League qualification spot.
