Harry Kane has allayed any injury fears after limping off during the latter stages of Tottenham’s hard-fought win over Brighton.

The England captain scored what proved to be the winning goal on an emotional night at the Amex Stadium as Spurs paid tribute to late fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone, stooping low in the first half to produce a clever deft header from Heung-min Son’s cross.

It was a 12th goal in as many Premier League games and a fourth in a row for in-form Kane, who now has eight this season, but there was concern as he limped off before stoppage time on the south coast after charging back to defend on the edge of his own penalty area as Brighton searched for a late equaliser and taking a painful whack as Alexis Mac Allister shaped to shoot.

Tottenham cannot afford to lose talisman Kane with the fixtures coming thick and fast across all competitions before the inaugural winter World Cup in Qatar next month, where he will be essential to England’s chances of success.

But the influential Three Lions captain insists he is feeling good despite a painful blow.

“It’s just a knock I think,” Kane told Sky Sports in his post-match interview. “He’s obviously gone full power for the shot there and I’ve just managed to get in front of him.

“A sore one but they are definitely worth it when you win the game for sure.”

Kane added: “I’m feeling good, a lot of games coming thick and fast. We’ve got the Champions League again in midweek, we’ve got to recover well and the whole squad’s got to be ready to play and keep battling out the games.”
