Tottenham head coach Nuno Espirito Santo says he has not decided if Harry Kane will feature in Sunday's visit to Wolves.
Kane was not deemed fit enough to be involved in Sunday's 1-0 win over Manchester City as he continues to angle for a move to the champions and he was left out of the travelling squad for Thursday's Europa Conference League play-off first leg against Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira.
Nuno, who warned that it would be a mistake to assume Spurs are not taking the competition seriously, says Kane’s fitness is improving but is unsure if he will be involved at Molineux.
"I cannot answer that,” the former Wolves boss said.
“What I can tell you is he's better. He's getting his fitness better and better each day. He worked today, he's going to work tomorrow and he's going to join the group on Friday. And on Saturday we're going to make a decision on who's going to be involved in the next game.”
Asked whether he had spoken to Kane this week, Nuno added: “We speak with all the players on a daily basis. When we are with them, it is normal to speak with all the players.”
Nuno said none of Sunday's starting XI would keep their places in Portugal but insisted Spurs are taking Uefa's new tertiary club competition "very seriously".
Asked if his plans to rest the likes of Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura were indicative of his view on the Conference League, Nuno replied: “That’s a mistake. We take it very seriously this competition.
“This is a good chance for us to have the squad involved, to have young players from the academy also on the bench potentially, and this is how we want to build our squad, to have real competition. For our players it’s the best thing we can have because we are starting all the competitions.
“It’s a new competition for everybody. I think it’s raising a lot of expectations among all of us.
“Because different clubs are going to be involved. It’s a chance for not so big clubs in European football, that in their own leagues achieve some success, to compete against big clubs like us.
“So I’m looking forward to the competition, looking forward to seeing. And for us as Tottenham, all the games, all the competitions are important. We are talking very seriously our jobs and our tasks.”
