Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri has distanced himself from speculation painting him as a possible successor to Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

Allegri is the bookmaker’s favourite to succeed Arsenal’s long-standing manager after three title-winning seasons in Serie A and has previously refused to “confirm or deny anything” when asked about a move to North London.

Wenger, however, insisted on Friday that he would manage next season, after his Arsenal contract has expired, “no matter what happens” whether at the Emirates or elsewhere.

And Allegri, speaking after Juventus’ 4-1 win over Palermo, laughed off speculation surrounding his future, adding that his English lessons were not part of a grand plan to switch to the Premier League.

“How's my English?” he joked with reporters. “I started learning before [my time at] Milan -- now I have left it.

“They say I will go to Arsenal? You all say that, I just listen.”

Juventus currently sit 10 points clear of nearest challengers Roma – who have a game in hand on La Vecchia Signora – having won their last seven games in all competitions.
