Injured Robbie Fowler: I’m not here for a tan

Robbie Fowler insists his move to Australia is not for a "holiday" as injury threatens to rule him out of North Queensland Fury's league opener next month.

The former Liverpool striker signed a two-year deal in February but a groin injury means he has yet to take part in a full training session.

Fowler, 34, hopes to begin training next week and be ready to face Sydney FC on 8 August. He said: "I want to play as much as anyone. I'm prepared to work hard and get on that pitch. I'm not just here to enjoy the sun, it's pride in myself."
