Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is adamant that he will not walk away from the Blues and has dismissed similarities between the club's current situation and the one that led to his departure in 2007.

The Premier League champions have endured a disappointing start to the season and are eight points behind pacesetters Manchester City ahead of their trip to face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

Few would have predicted that Chelsea would command a paltry return of four points after four fixtures and the Portuguese tactician is under pressure to reverse his side's fortunes.

Mourinho's first spell in charge at Stamford Bridge was ended by mutual consent eight years ago after a turbulent start to a campaign but the 52-year-old is confident history will not repeat itself.

"When I was here in 2007, I had two things in my mind. Go to Spain and go to Italy, just to give you an example. Today, I was in Spain and I was in Italy, I don’t want to go back. I want to stay here. That’s enough. That makes a difference.

"Let’s be objective. I don’t want to leave the club, in any circumstances. And the club doesn’t want me to leave. I’m not going to walk away. The club is not going to sack me.

"If somebody anyone thinks that I walk, or I leave the job it's somebody that doesn't know. So if they are Chelsea fans and they don't know me, I think they are not Chelsea fans because Chelsea fans know me for good and for bad and that's not my profile, to run away from problems, in this case to run away from bad results."

The west Londoners have an opportunity to kick start their campaign against Roberto Martinez's side and Mourinho believes there is just a single issue that he has to remedy in order to get Chelsea's season back on track.

"We have one problem. We are not getting the results we always expect to get. That’s our problem."
