Former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that his next role might not be at one of Europe's 'absolute top clubs'.
The 48-year-old stood down at the Westfalenstadion at the end of last season after guiding Dortmund to a disappointing seventh place finish in the Bundesliga.
Despite Dortmund's poor run of form during the latter stages of Klopp's reign, his reputation across the continent remains a stellar one.
Klopp was linked with a move to both Liverpool and Arsenal during the summer while Manchester City were also rumoured to be interested in Klopp amid speculation that Manuel Pellegrini could be sacked for his failure to win a piece of silverware last season.
The German, meanwhile, announced that he wanted to take an extended break away from the game, having spent seven years in charge at Dortmund.
Now the enigmatic coach is adamant that his future does not necessarily lie at one of Europe's established powerhouses and he will take the excitement of a role into account before making a decision on his future.
"It doesn't have to be an absolute top club," he said. "There are other good projects that are exciting and [clubs] who need help.
"I don't know where I'll be heading to but right now, that's not important for me.
Klopp's comments suggest that he would consider a club that does not ply its' trade in the Champions League and he is looking forward to the next chapter of his managerial career.
"I know that if I will have the right feeling it will be a wonderful next chapter. You will see what happens and I find it exciting right now not knowing what will happen next," he admitted.
