Burnley chief Lee Hoos insists striker Danny Ings will not be leaving the club before Monday's deadline amid speculation he is set to join Liverpool.

The 22-year-old, who has scored seven Premier League goals this term, had been linked with a permanent move to Anfield. Reports suggested the Reds would be willing to loan Ings back for the remainder of the season in order to complete the deal, but Hoos said such a deal is prohibited by the Premier League in a brief statement which dampened speculation.

The Clarets chief executive reiterated the club's stance after Sean Dyche's assertion earlier this month that Burnley will keep hold of Ings as they bid to retain Premier League status.

Hoos said on the club's official website: “This type of move would violate Premier League rule V7 regarding transfers so simply cannot happen.

“This is the last time we will be making any comment regarding the player’s future.

“Over the course of the window, the player himself, Sean Dyche and the chairman have made it clear he won’t be going anywhere and we consider that the end of the matter.”
