Manchester United draw Juventus, Valencia and Young Boys in Champions League group stage

Tony Mogan30 August 2018

Manchester United will face Juventus, Valencia and Young Boys in the Champions League group stage this season.

United returned to Europe's premier club competition last season after winning the Europa League in 2017.

Mourinho's side qualified from a relatively straight forward group containing Benfica, Basel and CSKA Moscow but fell at the next hurdle at the last 16 stage against Sevilla. After a goalless draw in Spain, United suffered a humiliating 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford that sealed their early exit.

United have not progressed beyond the quarter-final stage of the competition since 2011.

A second place finish in the Premier League season however has presented them with another chance to claim the trophy for the fourth time in their history, with Mourinho attempting to become the first manager in history to win the the competition with three different clubs.
