Cristiano Ronaldo has been named Europe's most marketable footballer, beating Wayne Rooney and Andres Iniesta to top spot.
In new research carried out by Repucom, which looked at how people perceived European players, the Portugal star - perhaps unsurprisingly - came top of the list with 83 per cent of people knowing who the Real Madrid winger was.
Indeed, 85 per cent of all men and 80 per cent of women recognised the Ballon d'Or winner, with Ronaldo securing a total of 77.46 global DBI points in the survey.
Behind the 30-year-old in second place was United star Rooney, who trailed Ronaldo by 19.45 points and had a global awareness of 54 per cent.
Former Tottenham winger Bale crept inside the top 10 with a 35 per cent global awareness while Robin van Persie, Mesut Ozil and Premier League Player of the Year Eden Hazard also feature in the elite list of names.

Repucom also found that if Argentina star Lionel Messi had been taken into account, he would have finished second behind Ronaldo, with the Barcelona man having a global awareness of 74%.
