Facundo Pellistri was left delighted by fellow Manchester United signing Edinson Cavani's recent words of praise, describing them as "unbelievable".

The 18-year-old, who has been handed the no28 shirt at Old Trafford, was one of four players to sign for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side on international deadline day, arriving in a £9million deal from Penarol.

Though Cavani is undoubtedly the more high-profile signing, Pellistri was immediately placed in United's Champions League squad, while his Uruguayan compatriot insisted the youngster will bring a "mischievous" flair to the side.

Pellistri is available for selection as United return to Premier League action with a tricky trip to Newcastle on Saturday, though Cavani is currently in quarantine and will have to sit out.

Asked what he thought of Cavani's comments, Pellistri told United's official website: "It's something unbelievable.

"It's fantastic to hear such comments from the players they were and are, as Cavani is going to be a team-mate of mine.

"I'm very glad and I'm happy to hear those comments. I'm very happy [to be his team-mate] and hoping he arrives soon.

"Cavani is a very top player, so I think he will be a great player here also."

Pellistri has also spoken of his excitement at playing in the Premier League, while highlighting the areas in which he aims to improve.

“[I’m] very excited, because the Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world. To play in that league is fantastic,” he added.

“When you are a kid, you don’t imagine [playing in the Champions League], but now it’s real. I’m very happy for this opportunity.

“I want to improve, for example, in shooting, passing the ball. All those things that make you better on the pitch.

“There are lots of people in charge of you to help. I think that I should learn from my team-mates and the coach, because it’s the first time I’m here in England. I will need help from them.”
