Paul Scholes believes David De Gea is 'out of order' if it is true that the goalkeeper has become unsettled amid speculation surrounding his future.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid but the Spanish giants are refusing to meet United's valuation and it looks increasingly likely that De Gea will remain at Old Trafford this summer.

Van Gaal has been fielding summer addition Sergio Romero in goal this term and says De Gea will not be considered for selection until the transfer window closes next month.

The United boss claims the Spaniard has become unsettled by uncertainty over his immediate future and recently stated that 'he was not the same David de Gea as before' after overseeing the goalkeeper in training.

And former Old Trafford favourite Scholes has criticised Manchester United's player of last season, questioning his attitude.

“How can you lose focus?” Scholes told BT Sport.

“That's the thing for me. He is getting paid by this club, it is a brilliant club.

“They paid a lot of money for a young keeper to give him this chance. If the manager is right and says he has lost focus then yeah, I think he is out of order.

“He should be in that team playing.”
