Manchester United’s caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he is looking to get the players enjoying football once more after replacing sacked Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager took heavy criticism for his pragmatic style of football, while rivals Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola at Liverpool and Manchester City won plaudits for their attacking approach.

Solskjaer, appointed on a short term deal on loan from Norwegian side Molde, took his first training session on Thursday and is looking to enjoy the ride back at the club.

The former striker, whose first game will be against the only other Premier League side he has managed in Cardiff, made 366 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions.

“It feels like coming home, I have to say,” Solskjaer told MUTV.

“It has been a few whirlwind days, of course, it has been very hectic but just great to see everyone.

“Well it is six months and I am going to enjoy the ride, I am back home and it is about seeing the players and staff and being myself the club is now running a process to find the next manager so I am just going to be myself in the meantime.

“We will get the players enjoying football and seeing the supporters again.”
